Some of Sacramento’s most talented and deserving students won’t be able to take advantage of opportunities for success because their foster families just can’t afford to support their dreams. It doesn’t stop them from dreaming, though. That’s where Point West Rotary Club Foundation and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Sacramento come in. They are hosting the Second Annual Lunar Lunacy Bike Ride on Saturday, August 1 to raise money for CASA’s “Making Memories” program and other local children’s charities.
The ride, open to all ages, will be held under a full moon at the California State Capitol. Riders will begin on the Capitol’s West Steps, and cruise through the streets of Sacramento on either a 5-mile or a 15-mile course. The courses are a combination of city streets and bike trail with a rest area at the half-way point of the 15-mile course.
Pre-ride events will include tasty fare from award-winning
Sacramento food trucks, DJ music provided by DJC-dub, a “best
decorated bike” contest and surprise take-away items at the
finish line. The fun starts at 7 pm with check-in; the
15-mile riders will kick off the ride at 9 pm followed
shortly thereafter by the 5-mile riders. “Virtual cyclists” can
join in by donating on-line.
