“Moods & Memories” – Artwork by Steve Memering

ARTHOUSE Studios and Gallery

Back Event Aug 10 @ 5 pm By Merle Axelrad

ARTHOUSE on R is proud to present an art exhibition of Oil paintings by Steve Memering at ARTHOUSE on R Gallery, 1021 R Street in Sacramento. The opening reception including an opportunity to meet the artist is Saturday, August 10, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. Steve Memering is a longtime favorite of Sacramento art enthusiasts. His new collection will be shown at ARTHOUSE during the month of August. His paintings will include local Sacramento landscapes as well as those of other areas of the world.

Steve’s paintings have been shown successfully in numerous Sacramento galleries for several decades. Steve is a versatile artist and is equally at home with conventional subjects as well as those more contemporary and abstract in nature. His work can be found in collections all over the country. Steve received his formal education from UC Berkeley, and did graduate work at Carnegie Mellon and CSCS. He taught art for 30 years in the Folsom Cordova School District.

When discussing his art process, Steve emphasizes the importance of using memory instead of photographic realism. “What I remember of a subject or location is far more interesting to me than simply trying to record what I’m seeing at a certain time and place.” As a result, his work takes on a certain distinct quality which many people can relate to and enjoy.

In addition to the Gallery Show, ARTHOUSE resident artists will open their studios to the public for Second Saturday, August 10, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. The show can also be seen from Aug 9 – Sept 9 during regular building hours (Tues – Sat 10-4 and Sun 11-2).
