Gerardo Zavala is a journalist based in the Sacramento area. He is currently working for the Woodland Daily Democrat covering the city, business and agriculture. He graduated from Sacramento State with a bachelor’s degree in political science and journalism and a minor in mathematics. Zavala was the broadcast editor for The State Hornet at Sacramento State and was the photography and sports editor at The Channels at Santa Barbara City College. He hopes to mix his experience and education in journalism with his interest in the sciences to spread important information to often-forgotten communities.
