Established in 2002, Yolo County Children’s Alliance (YCCA) believes in ensuring everyone in Yolo County has access to the resources they need to build meaningful ties to their communities. As the designated Child Abuse Prevention Council of Yolo County, YCCA has expanded its role to serve more than 6,000 children and families annually through its offices in Woodland and Davis and its Family Resource Center in West Sacramento.
Trauma-informed professionals deliver vital services including housing navigation and eviction prevention, health care enrollment assistance, workforce development for youth, and comprehensive food assistance programs serving between 500-580 households every Friday. The Family Resource Center operates as a multilingual hub, offering resources in English, Spanish, Russian, Farsi, Punjabi and Dari.
Among YCCA’s flagship programs is Healthy Families Yolo County™, a nationally-accredited home visitation program supporting parents from pregnancy through their child’s third year. One mother shares, “I went through depression after my baby was born and my home visitor helped me get out of this depression. I don’t think I would have been able to do it without her encouragement.”
“At YCCA, we witness the remarkable resilience of families who, with just a little support, can transform their lives and their children’s futures,” says Jeneba Lahai, executive director. “The strength of our community lies in our ability to support each other.”
While YCCA receives funding from government grants and contracts, partnerships with the business community are critical to meeting growing community needs. For more than a decade, Sutter Health has been instrumental in expanding YCCA’s reach. “Strong, healthy communities are built through partnerships,” explains Kelly Brenk, senior community health director with Sutter Health. “Supporting YCCA’s Family Resource Center allows us to extend care beyond our hospital walls and meet families where they are.”
For YCCA board member and Sutter Health’s Community Health Director Angelika Corchado, this work embodies health equity in action. “Everyone deserves access to high-quality healthcare and resources, regardless of their circumstances,” she says. “Working alongside YCCA, we’re breaking down barriers and creating equitable pathways to wellness that honor each family’s unique needs.”
Community events play a vital role in creating opportunities and support networks for children and families in Yolo County. Through corporate sponsorships of signature events like the Back-to-School Resource Fair, which served 3,000 children this past August; Community Giveaway Thanksgiving Event; and the Homeless Resource Fair, businesses can make a lasting difference in building family stability. Your support helps power these annual community-wide events that reach thousands of families throughout the year, weaving a powerful safety net across Yolo County.
This holiday season, companies can make an immediate impact through YCCA’s Adopt-a-Family program. With sponsorship levels starting at $500, businesses can provide essential items and holiday gifts to families facing hardship. There’s no greater gift than giving a child hope and showing families they’re not alone. As the year draws to a close, your end-of-year charitable giving can transform lives while providing valuable tax benefits for your business. Your partnership helps ensure every child experiences the joy of the holiday season while supporting YCCA’s year-round mission of strengthening families.
