Dave Roughton serves as CEO for SAFE Credit Union and as an executive committee board member for the Greater Sacramento Economic Council (GSEC), where he is instrumental to both organizations’ success. He sees the partnership of businesses and GSEC as critical to regional improvement, from solving today’s most pressing societal challenges to bettering the economy, ultimately elevating quality of life for all.
“Being SAFE’s CEO has been the most fulfilling experience of my professional career,” Roughton says. “I absolutely love my work and the people I’m privileged to work with. At SAFE, our focus is building financial freedom for our members, our workforce and the communities where we live and work. We’ve also increased our philanthropic and volunteer efforts in the communities we serve.”
“Every business in Sacramento depends on the region’s economic strength and should consider investing in GSEC to ensure future success for all.” Dave Roughton, CEO
Roughton takes that community vision a step further as a GSEC executive committee board member, collaborating with the region’s most influential business and civic leaders to drive tradable sector job growth for the Sacramento region. He says, “Our region’s future success depends on a consistently growing base of good-paying jobs to make the American dream possible for all our residents.”
Over the past 10 years, GSEC has located 90 new companies in the region, creating more than 24,000 new jobs, while generating $8.2 billion in economic output. In addition, GSEC has provided thought leadership and strategic support for Aggie Square and the California Mobility Center, both of which will create dramatic future economic development for our region.
“SAFE invests in GSEC because our strategic visions align perfectly,” Roughton says. “My vision for SAFE is to empower financial health for all, as our future depends on strong, financially healthy communities. GSEC also helps to create strong, healthy communities by attracting companies to our region to supply well-paying jobs — the engine of economic strength. Every business in Sacramento depends on the region’s economic strength and should consider investing in GSEC to ensure future success for all.”
