The Sacramento SPCA has been a trusted animal welfare partner in the Sacramento region since 1892, positively impacting more than 40,000 pets annually from a single location in South Sacramento. The organization operates the Zoe K. McCrea Animal Health Center, a nationally ranked high-volume spay and neuter clinic, in addition to providing adoption services, wellness and vaccine clinics, and foster and educational outreach programs.
Dedicated to honoring the bond between animals and the people who love them, the Sacramento SPCA provides compassionate medical care and education to help keep pets in their homes for life. Offering a range of services with a focus on preventing pet overpopulation, the Sacramento SPCA has performed more than 310,000 spay and neuter surgeries since 2007, making it one of the top 10 clinics in the nation.
As the region’s only full-service, 100% nonprofit shelter, the Sacramento SPCA is independent, relying solely on donations from individuals, businesses and foundations to fund its operations. This allows all funds to stay within the local community, directly benefiting the animals and families of Sacramento.
With new CEO Jennifer Brent appointed in October 2024 — who brings more than 16 years of nonprofit and animal welfare leadership experience to the organization — along with a strong board and dedicated staff and volunteers, the Sacramento SPCA remains a trusted resource for pets and people in the Sacramento community.
