Since 1892, the Sacramento SPCA
has been more than just a shelter
— it’s a heartbeat in our community, pulsing with compassion and
possibility. While their sheltering services are vital, the
SSPCA’s reach extends far beyond, weaving a network of care that
touches both animals and people.
“People know us best for acting as a shelter for animals,” says CEO Jennifer Brent, “but there is so much more to this organization. We are a place whose mission is to provide any and all resources available for pet owners in order to keep them and their furry family together, happy and thriving.”
Education is at the heart of the SSPCA’s mission. Through youth programs, summer camps and school visits, they plant seeds of empathy and responsibility in the next generation. Adults aren’t left out — workshops on pet care and behavior help everyone become better companions to their animals. These efforts ripple outward, creating a community where kindness is the norm and families, even the furry ones, are kept together.
Support from local businesses, like Gilbert CPAs, amplifies this impact. As Sarah Ellis of Gilbert CPAs puts it, “The SPCA doesn’t just save lives — it transforms them. We’re so honored to work with them as our client for the last few years, but so many of us at Gilbert have been volunteering and working alongside the organization for decades.”
The Gilbert Growlers team, which takes part in the Doggy Dash every year, is just a small testament to the firm’s love of the SSPCA.
Every act of kindness, whether it’s walking a dog, donating a bag of food or simply sharing a word of encouragement, builds a safety net for animals in need. The SSPCA’s doors open each day because of this shared spirit. When you get involved, you become part of a story much bigger than any one person or pet. You help create second chances, new beginnings and a community where hope is always possible.
So, come join us. Lend a hand, share your heart and help the Sacramento SPCA continue to make magic happen, one wagging tail at a time.
