PARTNERING WITH THE SMUD MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND CURIOSITY (MOSAC)

Back Sponsored Dec 2, 2024

Imagine a world, any world you want to create. Now imagine that somewhere in this city there is a place where you can bring all your wildest imaginings to life, from building robots to traveling to other planets, even 3D-printing your own mini cities.

You don’t have to imagine — that place is here. The SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity (MOSAC) is Sacramento’s premier destination for hands-on learning and exploration. Located in the heart of the city with the river as its backdrop and Discovery Park as its backyard, this innovative space offers visitors of all ages the opportunity to unleash their creativity and curiosity.

MOSAC’s impact on the community hasn’t gone unnoticed. On Nov. 8, the Sacramento Kings honored the museum as one of the city’s most exciting nonprofits, recognizing its contributions to education and entertainment. But the Beam Team isn’t the only one taking notice. Gilbert CPAs, a full-service CPA firm known for their extensive finance work with nonprofit organizations, couldn’t help but notice the work their client, MOSAC, was doing.

“It’s an amazing organization that we wanted to take a little time and honor,” says Gilbert CPAs’ CFO Sarah Ellis. “The work that they do is so important to getting youth involved in STEM learning. Piquing their interest in a tactile and tangible way that isn’t always readily accessible in schools is a vital service that we want more people to know about.”

MOSAC’s diverse exhibits cater to a wide range of interests. The planetarium transports guests to distant galaxies, while the recently introduced laser shows add a new dimension to the celestial experience. In the DIY makerspace, aspiring inventors of all ages can access 3D printers and cutting-edge technology to bring their ideas to life. In fact, the museum’s commitment to engaging all age groups is evident in its varied programming. While children marvel at interactive displays, adults can enjoy specially curated mixers where they can sip cocktails and reconnect with their inner child.

“We’re here to bring the joy of learning and discovery to people of all ages,” says Executive Director Andrea Durham. “Whether you’re planning a family outing, a first date or seeking a unique experience, MOSAC is the place to go in our area. There’s something for everyone.”

Three years after opening and despite its innovative offerings and wide range of exciting activities to partake in, MOSAC still faces challenges letting the community know they’re here, as all new businesses do. And yet we’re reminded that this innovative space with its interactive exhibits and community impact is more than just a museum. It’s a gateway to a universe of discovery, a place where dreams take shape and curiosity reigns supreme.

In the heart of Sacramento, MOSAC stands as a testament to the power of imagination, inviting visitors of all ages to step into a world where the extraordinary becomes possible and the boundaries of creativity are constantly pushed. Here, in this haven of innovation, the wildest imaginations truly come to life, proving that the world we dared to imagine at the beginning is not just a fantasy — it’s a reality waiting to be explored at MOSAC.
