Strike Support Access Program

SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity

Back Mar 5

With the confirmation of a teacher strike in the Twin Rivers Unified School District, the SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity (MOSAC) is stepping up to help local families. We’re offering free weekday admission to students from the affected district during this disruption.

Strike Support Access Program Details

Beginning March 5, MOSAC will offer:

  • Free admission for students from the affected district with proof of school name and zip code when arriving on weekdays when MOSAC is open to the public after 1:30 PM.
  • Discounted admission for parents and caregivers arriving on weekdays when MOSAC is open to the public after 1:30 PM at $15 per person.
  • Early opening at 9:00 AM on March 5, 6, and 9 to support affected families before scheduled field trips from other districts arrive. Please note that school groups will begin arriving between 9:00 and 10:00 AM, and the museum will be very busy during this time. Updates will be provided if the closure continues beyond these dates.

For the best experience, we recommend visiting after 1:30 PM once field trip programming has ended. Public planetarium programs are available in the afternoons only on weekdays.

At MOSAC, we have hands-on science exhibits, interactive learning experiences, and public planetarium programs designed to provide meaningful educational enrichment while students are out of school. We understand that strikes create uncertainty for families, educators, and students. As a community-focused science center, MOSAC is committed to being a steady and supportive resource during challenging times.
