SACRAMENTO STATE COLLEGE OF CONTINUING EDUCATION

DR. PAMELA WIMBUSH, INTERIM DEAN

Back Sponsored Aug 30, 2023

Assuming the role of Interim Dean of the College of Continuing Education (CCE) at Sacramento State University, Dr. Pamela Wimbush is dedicated to nurturing an atmosphere of innovation, collaboration and advancement.

CCE serves over 160,000 learners and includes academic and professional programs, conferences, trainings and organizational development to the state of California as well as summer sessions and youth academies.

Wimbush recognizes the CCE team’s profound impact on adult learners and aims to cultivate an environment that stimulates ingenuity, critical analysis and knowledge exploration. Throughout this transition, she has prioritized maintaining the standards and principles that define the CCE while propelling the college towards a promising and thriving future, expanding educational access for adult learners, and enhancing social mobility through diverse learning modes.

Wimbush has an extensive leadership track record in higher education. Previously, she held the role of associate dean for program success and organizational excellence at Sacramento State. She played a key role within the dean’s leadership team, where her responsibilities encompassed enrollment and marketing services, digital learning and technology solutions, evaluations and effectiveness, compliance, people and culture, facilities, and finance — pivotal elements in delivering a top-tier learning experience through the CCE.

Wimbush credits her leadership to “working in my family’s business at a young age, my parents taught me work ethic and integrity while maintaining good grades. My mother oftentimes shared leadership skills with me.”

Wimbush understands the challenges that may exist for adult learners as they seek additional education avenues and training. It is her desire to ensure adult learners are given the opportunity to obtain a quality education to improve their economic and social access. She is a founding faculty member in the University Professional and Continuing Education Association (UPCEA), where she teaches in the PCO Leadership Certificate program.

Wimbush expresses deep gratitude for the privilege of serving as interim dean and conveys unwavering confidence in overcoming challenges and celebrating accomplishments alongside the CCE community. Together, with enthusiasm and solidarity, they embark on a journey to make a lasting impression on learners and the broader community.
