Under the leadership of Sacramento County Superintendent of Schools, David W. Gordon and an outstanding Board of Education, SCOE has assembled a cabinet that reflects the diversity and dynamism of the communities it serves. “Centering a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion is foundational for leadership and system design — a principle that guides our every decision,” Gordon says. “The varied perspectives and experiences of our cabinet members enrich our strategies and solutions, which help foster a more inclusive and equitable educational ecosystem.”

SCOE’s commitment to inclusivity and equity extends beyond its leadership. Every employee on the SCOE team is focused on being a champion of countering bias and empowering students and educators. The team works tirelessly to provide essential services, curriculum and instructional support, school staff development, direct technical assistance, legal and financial advice, and oversight for 13 school districts representing more than 247,000 students.
Innovation and continuous improvement are at the heart of
SCOE’s mission. Initiatives in literacy, school-based mental
health, early learning, and education workforce development are
just a few examples of how SCOE is re-envisioning education to
meet the challenges of the 21st Century. “We aim to disrupt
