As a forward-thinking, community-owned utility, Roseville Electric is driving the future of transportation by investing in electric vehicle (EV) adoption throughout the City of Roseville with programs, services and foresight.
“We’re proud to support EV adoption as part of our commitment to healthier communities through cleaner air and reduced emissions,” explains Sarah Kaufman, energy services account representative.
Roseville Electric embraced the California Air Resource Board’s low carbon fuel standard (LCFS) program early on in 2017, positioning the city as a leader in EV readiness. “LCFS credits have enabled us to give the City of Roseville a head-start in the state’s transition to EVs through the encouragement of EV adoption and charging installations in our area,” says Kaufman.
“With EV numbers rising quickly, Roseville is investing in infrastructure now. This proactive approach ensures we’re making meaningful progress today to prepare for the needs and growth of tomorrow’s community.” — Sarah Kaufman,
Energy Services Account Representative
LCFS program credits have allowed Roseville Electric to offer a variety of customer programs like site assessments for businesses, EV rebates and EV charger rebates, making EV adoption more cost-effective. One program that directly benefits residents is working with local dealerships to educate buyers about EV rebates on purchases and chargers. The latest rebate focuses on electric bicycles, which are growing in popularity in this active community.
“We’re proactive with our customers, especially businesses with fleets that are transitioning to EVs under state mandates,” notes Kaufman. “This transition is coming fast and it can feel overwhelming, so we establish communication early, letting them know we’re here to help.”
Roseville Electric currently supports multiple EV charging stations throughout the City of Roseville. The city plans on expanding more to include city parks, parking lots and parking garages. Kaufman concludes, “With EV numbers rising quickly, Roseville is investing in infrastructure now. This proactive approach ensures we’re making meaningful progress today to prepare for the needs and growth of tomorrow’s community.”
