“The title and escrow industry is seeing changes that are advantageous for women,” says Jamie Corcoran, regional vice president for First American Title. “This industry is about 70 percent women, but women haven’t always been represented at that percentage in executive leadership positions. That has really changed over the past decade — especially at First American, where we have taken measures to shorten the gap.”
With a strong, inclusive culture, First American Title is committed to leveling the playing field at the executive level, recognizing the need to balance opportunities for women. Now the company has created resources and programs to foster advancement for women and opportunities abound.
In the Greater Sacramento area, First American Title benefits from the skills and leadership qualities of Corcoran and three of her management team members: Teresa Campodonico, Michelle DeLong and Erin Barton.
“My leadership team and I had grassroots beginnings in the industry and worked our way to our current positions. We lead by example and can convey what it takes to make it in this field.” Jamie Corcoran, Regional Vice President
More than 30 years ago, Campodonico started with First American in an entry-level position and worked her way up from assistant to escrow officer and branch manager to her current role as area manager. DeLong started at First American, worked for other companies for some time, but came back to First American 15 years ago, advancing from escrow officer to branch manager and now to area manager. Barton didn’t start her career with First American but joined the company a year and a half ago when looking to advance her career — an opportunity her last employer couldn’t provide. She began with First American as an area sales manager and, after only a year, she advanced to regional sales director.
“My leadership team and I had grassroots beginnings in the industry and worked our way to our current positions,” Corcoran says. “We lead by example and can convey what it takes to make it in this field. When we talk with women considering careers, we can offer them genuine experience, knowledge, empathy and a big welcome.”
