Ed Goldman

Ed Goldman’s thrice-weekly column, The Goldman State, began a year ago and has readers in 10 states. He wrote the Working Lunch column for Comstock’s for 15 years and the Sacramentions column for Sacramento Magazine for 10 years. He also wrote a daily column for eight years for the Sacramento Business Journal, which has published three of his five books, and was a correspondent for the Los Angeles Times for 10 years.

Zahra Hamdani

Zahra Hamdani works at a mental health nonprofit in Sacramento and earned her MBA from California Southern University. She enjoys reading news stories and mystery novels and is also a freelance writer.

Marcus Crowder

Marcus Crowder is an arts writer based in Northern California. For 17 years he was the theater critic at The Sacramento Bee where he also wrote about jazz, pop and dance. His reviews and interviews include Sting, Radiohead, The Rolling Stones, Sonny Rollins, Chita Rivera and Greta Gerwig. His work has appeared in Alta, American Theatre, Diablo Magazine, Sactown, San Francisco Chronicle and 7×7. Onstage he has interviewed Alice Waters, Frank Rich, Lara Downes and Dave Douglas. He graduated from UC Davis with a B.A. in English (Writing) and has an M.F.A. in Screenwriting from the American Film Institute.

Eva Roethler

Kelly Barr

Kelly Barr is the former art director for Comstock’s, a creative professional and MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) Certified Practitioner. In the past, she has also contributed to the magazine as a freelance designer and photographer.

Bob Burns

Bob Burns covered golf for The Sacramento Bee for and freelanced for several national magazines, including Golf Digest and Golf World. He was inducted into the Sacramento Golf Hall of Fame in 2019 and is the author of “The Track in the Forest,” a book about the 1968 U.S. Olympic men’s track and field trials among at Echo Summit.
